As an engineer, I have to defend the expression, as we see people get lost in the facts all the time. Why? Because the facts are often nuanced.
They look more like power ratings. ;)

Are those odds? The numbers don’t make sense.

And if lives depended on it, they knew that, too. So, of course they did. I’m thankful for them and their work, but somehow not surprised.

30.10.2025 21:59 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Not to bless his words, but SMRs are pretty advanced; only 2 are in operation, in Russia and China. TVA has committed to build a 300-MW SMR, but SMRs can be as small as 5 MW.
28.10.2025 16:30 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0A few things:
- He’s talking about data centers and (perhaps) other new large loads.
- Some are building their own generators (not because he said they could), and some are talking about SMRs (small modular reactors).
- Nobody will build a coal plant for AI; some may locate at an extant plant site.
It’s too easy for that quote to be interpreted as referring to individuals. It’s referring to whole species populations. [I know you know that, but it needs to be said.]
