🐴As a predominantly paper and printed book archive, you might be surprised to find a wooden toy horse in our collections!

Once owned by Archbishop Randall Davidson during his childhood, this wooden horse is one of the largest artefacts we have. 🐴

Have any of you been trying #DryJanuary this month?

If the lure of alcohol feels too tempting, Victorian temperance societies had plenty of advice! This 1893 illustration from the Band of Hope Union is aimed at those doing the thirsty work of harvesting crops.πŸ§‘β€πŸŒΎ

This particular copy belonged to E.F. Benson (one of Archbishop Benson's six children) and has been interleaved and used as an album. It features 50 lively cartoons in pencil, crayon, ink and watercolour, most likely created by the 3 Benson brothers.
