Indexers: can I ask your advice? I am writing an index that needs to include the notes. Endnotes however start again after the introduction. How do I indicate in the index which section the note falls into? Is there an established convention for this? TIA for any help/advice! 🙏

Cover of the book The Word made Flesh: Lutheran Bodies, 1600-1720 by Karin Sennefelt. The over image shows an etching of a young woman in a dress but bare foot flying through the air during a lightning storm.
The Word made Flesh is out today! I've not seen it in the flesh myself yet, but this is a happy day after many years of work.

Bright summer woodland scene with tall trees casting dappled shadows on a lush green grassy slope, sunlight filtering through the vibrant leaves, and a hint of blue sky peeking through the canopy.
Good morning. How green is Ireland? Well, it’s this green. In case you didn’t know, this is where the Irish fairies, known as the Aos Sí live. I’ve seen them here. 🤥 #ThickTrunkTuesday #photography #EastCoastKin

Pundits are - in vain - looking to economics and politics when trying to explain Trump's behavior.
But, in reality, the central place to look if we want to understand Trump and his policies is this:
The psychology of dominance.

Notice in Latin at the beginning of the book which alerts the reader to the use of square brackets 'to help avoid mistakes'
The brackets in use on a page in the book, around a quote from Brentius
Title page of the book 'Probatio corporalis praesentiae corporis' with printer's device
When you want to cite someone but also make clear that they are absolutely wrong. This book by Jean Hessels (1522-1566), professor of theology at the university of Leuven, puts the words of heretics between [brackets] to avoid confusion. Or, how typography helps save your soul!
