From @steveinskeep.bsky.social : If I understand this correctly, the US president has launched a trade war against the world, believes he can force the EU and China to meet his terms, is determined to annex Canada and Greenland, but is powerless before the sovereign might of El Salvador. Is that it?

Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

Others have pointed this out already but the Booker's "stunt" is him literally Doing the Job - impassioned speechmaking is supposedly the main reason for Senators to exist and the only reason any of them from before the United States was established are remembered by name

It's not that what's happening in the US now is "like" the Holocaust: they're actually doing the exact same thing. Calling it deportation, doing it some place where the laws are more malleable, that's how the Nazis did it too. The same rhetorical and legal sleight of hands were used.

Here’s an idea: Rogue government has installed itself in the US capital. 100,000 federal workers from the former US are unemployed. Sounds like there are 100,000 highly skilled experts looking for a new job could be a good foundation for a new nation…

Fact check: What Trump doesn’t mention about Canada’s dairy tariffs | CNN Politics President Donald Trump correctly noted Friday, as he has before, that Canada has tariffs above 200% on dairy products imported from the US. But Trump again failed to mention a critical fact.

March 7th, 2025 PT II - Trump claims to reporters that he had Canada’s dairy-tariff situation β€œwell taken care of” at the time he left office the first time, β€œbut under Biden, they just kept raising it.” In fact, Canada did not raise its dairy tariffs during the Biden administration.
