I agree. Youth was not on their side and they went all in on the hype train-that was a mistake. Losing Simon for 5 weeks likely cost them 1-3 wins which would have put them middle of the pack. Eye test says they’re right there. If we’re in this place next year, then it is warranted.
This comes from a place of empathy, not critique.
Omaha Hockey is in a tough place. The margins in the NCAA are tiny, and while hockey can feel unfair, it still rewards teams that take care of the details. Until that happens consistently, the results won’t turn. When it does, they will.
He was listed as 6’7!
I’ll have to go back through the penalties, but it’s hard not to feel frustrated after that game. That was a really good game that was taken over by the stripes.
NCHC teams shouldn’t be getting boned by our conference’s own refs in non-conference games.
This is so great! More of this would be awesome.
Oh a new sister???
I'll likely put something together as we get closer to the start of the season, but I'm really impressed with Omaha's incoming class.
Omaha's weaknesses included depth F scoring and offense from D.
At a high-level glance, those needs appear to have been addressed.
As a native Omahan, we all already knew this 😂
Transfer portal was wild yesterday, but it was foreseeable. The impact of CHL eligibility can't be understated.
USHL is a key source of quality NCAA hockey talent. USHL has ~400 players.
CHL eligibility adds ~2,000 players of USHL quality into the recruiting pool (WHL, QMJHL, OHL & CIS).
Re: all the Mavs in the portal today
It's tough to see all these Mavs in the portal. They put everything into making the most out of last season. They all have my respect.
The unfortunate reality is that CHL eligibility has dramatically changed the recruiting landscape with immediate effect.
UND really announced their new HC in a 10p Saturday night news dump?😭
This is a nightmare.
Nebraska-Omaha continuing its pipeline to Quebec, with late '06 Right Winger Vincent Desjardins. No indication of what year he's expected, but noteworthy that Blainville's season ended Monday. The theory is that CHL players with eligibility would announce only after their current season is done.
“Hockey is what they do, and character is who you are.”
Gabinet talks about the team supporting a staff member the night before the playoffs.
I’ll post more later, but these guys deserved a better outcome to the growth they showed this year.

I’ve seen a lot of things but I’ve never seen a severe thunderstorm/college hockey season collab like we might see tomorrow. 🌪️
Omaha had the upper hand coming into the weekend with UND but I’m still a little surprised they went to Grand Forks and got it done.
Can’t believe Twitter keeps crashing despite Elon hiring the best 19-year-old interns that racism has to offer
Stopping shots consistently in conference play throughout the year 😼🛑🧱
Omaha's Simon Latkoczy is our 2024-2025 Save Percentage Champion! 🥇

Time change has got me feeling like I’m waking up for an early flight but without the excitement of TSA Precheck or grabbing some industrial scrambled eggs in the lounge.
Damn, college hockey has been WEIRD this year. Anything you think you know…doesn’t apply this year.
Huge congratulations to this Omaha Mavericks to wrap up home ice!
The growth they’ve shown this year has been inspiring.
Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Omaha will be putting out their best lineup all season, which is exciting. Let the chips fall where they do. 👍🏼
Ahem.
Omaha will be bringing in a bunch of new guys. Many of them will have CHL connections. Omaha will not have to fill their goalie room which will make them a continued problem for other schools.
He and Reidler are going to have some epic battles in the years to come. Similarly built goalies.
This whole thread.
As a lifelong Western Michigan and SCSU hockey fan, I hope both teams sweep this weekend.
Me too! Long overdue.
On the other app, it was announced Omaha is getting 4 new uniforms next season in a partnership with CCM.
