Batman Arkham Knight was so ahead of its time. In my playthrough, I am just slowing down near the docks looking at the skybox and the waves, absolutely unbelievable. Timeless beauty.

I want to consume art for the art, not for something else.

When a piece of art’s main purpose is a vehicle for the maker’s politics, I am out.

I recognize the inherent significance of the ability for it to be included in art, but for it to dominate and lambast the art-aspect is crucially detrimental, ultimately tearing the work apart entirely.

Well after nearly 10 more pages, I am deciding to let this go. The writing is not refined after all, and I feel there is an immaturity in the way it handles its themes. There are better things to spend one’s time on.

I feel in the internet age, getting book recommendations is easily the most overwhelming thing ever.

I’ve resorted to NOT looking at any lists, and simply reading what comes my way, whilst still being selective.

Excited for this!

Otherwise, though this book looks and sounds a bit like horror (which I thought it was), so far it is more mystery with a speckling of h elements. I want to keep reading it…

I feel the “dishonest” or seemingly “malevolent” nature of the lady’s dead husband could have been painted differently.

People can be interesting or “evil” or have character for reasons that don’t have to also simultaneously serve as a vehicle for the author’s personal politics.

Fifty pages into Sybil Baker’s Apparitions. Enjoying it. There is a bit of an unneeded focus on “evil men” and “white male” syndrome that I’m not seeing the relevance of.
