Love to be creative, especially the experimenting part, and to be out breathing the fresh air. My favourite crafty things to do are spinning yarn, weaving and sewing. Mum and dog mum. πŸ“Shetland

Going to have to break open the chocolate to console myself over the disappointment that the people who bought two of the three houses on Homes Under The Hammer didn't finish them before the TV crew returned πŸ™ˆ

I love this idea ... I can never see in my head what something will look like spun up or knitted.

I really miss my large loom. I used to enjoy weaving cotton towels.

I made this set of two hand towels and a face cloth using Lily's Sugar N Cream yarn to give as a gift.

The dog's Pets At Home order arrived with a luxurious metre of leg room ... if you listen carefully you can hear my carbon footprint sobbing quietly in the corner.

I love experimenting ... I don't have much time to play at the mo so this is a throwback. Commercial 100% wool yarn paired with merino spun on my drop spindle and cut in to small pieces.

It's unlikely our dog could pull off any kind of crime due to the victory trott she does after she's pinched something she knows she shouldn't have 🐾

I wish I could say something to help. Hopefully knowing that people understand helps a little.

It's our first Christmas with our pup. We're going to do the same and just put the lights on to start with so we can gauge the potential for disaster 😁

It was Worth Melting For (80% merino/20% stellina) part of the Fairytale range from World of Wool. It was a while back so they might not still have it unfortunately. I tried to put the information in the original post but didn't have enough characters πŸ™ˆ Thread ply is my favourite 😊

Thank you 😊 I really enjoy using thread plied yarn to weave with. I haven't had any issues using it in warps but I'm lucky that I have a few reeds I can choose from to try and match the yarn size. I really must get myself organised and spin some up ready to weave with 😊

Hi ... I love it. It's really well made and solid. The only negative I can think of is I wish it was wider but I couldn't afford the wider one. My mum carded a fleece on it last year and it worked really well. I usually aim for 40g of fibre per batt 😊

I love to experiment but I don't get much chance at the moment so here's a throw back.

From the top ...
1) Short backward draw - 2 ply.
2) Rolags - 2 ply.
3) Short forward draw thread plied.
4) Core spun single.

Throw back to my first attempt at thread plying. There wasn't much fibre so the scarf is quite short but it's one of my favourite things I've ever made.

Hand dyed merino silk (70%-30%) spun as a single and plied with silk thread. Used as warp and weft.

Shetland fibre and mulberry silk spun into a single and plied with silk thread. It's my favourite spinning method when I'm going to weave with the yarn as it gives texture but still allows the finished item to have drape.
