General laws in history do exist. Simply they are too broad to give answers on short-term problems people usually expect history to would provide. #HistoryTheory

Prieks to lasīt arī latviski. Paldies @ApgadsJumava un PLinLatvia

There are no prospects for the beginning of World War III unless China or a significant number of other countries become actively and directly involved militarily against U.S. armed forces.

I m not saying that violant death of Ali Khamenei will undo Islamic revolution tomorrow. But this war will end. And Persia will be different as it had been decades untill now. And The World will be. And relations between Christians and Muslims will.

The concept of Orthodoxy, Autocracy, and Nationality as a cornerstone for Russia was designed to protect it from "Western revolutionary ideas". Competition over being "purest" Christians with most "traditional Christian values" turned into fight for autocracy and imperialism.

Since the fall of Constantinopolis, which was the center of Orthodoxy and effective successor of Roman Empire in 1453, Muscovy claimed for its share of this succession. That still is a time when religious domination meant political control.

Split of Christianity under the Great Shiizm of 1054 and origins of Eastern Orthodoxy is one of central keys, despite the fact that Christianization of Kievan Rus started already circa 988. When Moscow was founded circa 1147, need to say - this split was not only religious

What if, we would look on Russian desire for control over Crimea and Kiiv from perspective of Russian contemporal political/religius philosophy? #RussianHistory It might turn out, that Crimea is the only territory where Russian and Constantinopolis historical presence overlaps

Every country has some kind of philosophy it is based on. But only deep knowledge and understanding of its history especially its religion history or cultural history in broader sense, can lead to understanding of between lines philosophy which drives politics. #HistoryTheory

Knowing Russian history means a better understanding of Russian performance. A better understanding of an enemy's performance (Russia has claimed for years that it is at war with the West) means a significant decrease in its effectiveness.

Lets talk about why it is now essential to know Russian history for Europeans. 1)That explains better what is going on in Russo-European relations and politics; 2)Russia is intentionally lying about that; 3)Existing knowledge is insufficient. What's else? #RussianHistory

Soviet Russia was not recognized de jure by Western powers. Recognition of Soviet Union began only on 1924 and it was accepted into League of Nations in 1934. (12 years after Baltic States). Before that millions of people there survived only thanks to Western aid #RussianHistory

Political and economical stabilization, closer relations with foreign countries, freer hands for concluding economic agreements and admission to the League of Nations - these are the general lines that de jure brings and will bring to us in the future. (c) Z.A.Meierovics
