We’ve been busy making pots and enjoying the warm weather!
We will be firing soon and heading to Raleigh for the Western NC Hurricane Relief Potters Market. You can find us, along with a cohort of @sprucepinepottersmarket and WNC potters at the @raleighironworks on April 5 from 10-4.

We usually make teapots towards the end of a making cycle when we’ve mustered up the courage to undertake these more complicated forms. But the cold weather got us behind on our clay making, so we are choosing forms that use relatively small amounts of clay and a longer time to make.

Staying at a friend’s house this winter, we saw this pot of ours from around 2005. It’s fun when it’s been long enough since you made a pot that it seems like someone else’s. We haven’t used that amber glaze in a long time, but dang- maybe we need to bring it back!

We throw these guinomis /small cups off the hump and each one is a quick possibility of exploration, still containing every consideration of form- rim, body and foot. If a new glaze test seems promising on a test tile, we try it on a guinomi to see what it looks like on an actual pot.
