Introducing the hip flask! I’ve been revisiting an old idea with flip top bottles and the hip flask has always captured my imagination. Must be from my Tennessee moonshine and whiskey roots!

I had a big day glazing and packing a kiln yesterday! I dip the pot in the bucket and jerk upwards to pull glaze inside, not to allowing the rim to break the surface. Then I’m careful to move the excess around so it settles evenly on the rim rather than forming drips.
Yes, it seems the community here is small, but still enthusiastic! I haven’t had a lot of time to explore yet, but we’ll have tomorrow in Zurich and Bremgarten, so I’m looking forward to that!
It’s been a fantastic week in Switzerland! Here is all the work made by my super students, with a few of my own dotted in. We’ve covered a lot of ground, it’s really interesting to see the students experiment with the slips and take it in new directions. Thanks so much to everyone for a superb week!
Northern Clay Center, Minneapolis, MN. They have a great pottery audience. northernclaycenter.org/about/apply/...
Really enjoyed my first day in Switzerland at Die Keramikerinnen with this lovely group!
I spent the day yesterday decorating a batch of pots. Plates are always a favourite, because they’re such a nice canvas for playful decorations. Now I’m off to a Switzerland for the week to teach!
My shelves are filling up with all things handled! This is a batch I finished before teaching last week just about dried in the glorious sunshine and waiting to go in the bisque.

Hi Julie, thanks for your interest! I do most of my teaching through the Leach Pottery, and I don’t have any throwing large classes on the books this year. I believe it will be offered again next year when the new studio is finished. You could join the mailing list for classes, they sell out fast!
Here are some candlesticks that I’ve been trying out, these have just gone through the bisque last week, but I think when they’re finished they could look nice together as a set.

Super excited to be teaching this course in beautiful Switzerland next month! If there is anyone that lives out there or fancies a trip over, there are still spaces available!

I’ve been teaching some production at the Leach Pottery this week! I made this mug with 2 different handles to illustrate how much the style of a mug will change when you change with the design of a handle. It’s pretty fun so I thought I’d share it here too!
This week I am the Featured Potter at the Leach Pottery. This means you can get 10% off my work all week. Here's a link if you fancy a browse.

I’ve been trying some new forms this winter and I love the way the slip is clinging on to this cake plate I’ve made!

Hello! As I’ve just joined, I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself.
I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. I moved to St Ives to work at The Leach Pottery. Ten years later I left to focus on my own work in the Gaolyard Studios, St Ives.
Please feel free to get in touch!
