22.06.2025 19:55 β π 37 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0@ukrunchat.bsky.social I'm writing about getting older and slower and how we can still find joy and meaning in running in the absence of improvement/PBs. I'd love to hear any of your thoughts, runners. What motivates you once you're past your peak? #running

06.05.2025 15:57 β π 95 π 98 π¬ 3 π 8Just published this month's Substack. It was Gilbert White, 18th-century naturalist, who coined the phrase 'watching narrowly'. 10.04.2025 19:14 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It is a thing... but it's not a good thing for the birds. It takes more energy to sing louder, in order to overcome traffic/urban noise, which means less energy for other things. This study found bird abundance dropped in response to road noise: royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/....

I've written about the depression that has waxed and waned for 3 decades on my Substack. Like the moon, it's currently waxing. It was impossible to write around the edges of it any longer; headlong seemed to be the only way. My Substack is 100% free. #depression #naturewriting #writingcommunity
