There’s this idea that we could win a bunch of votes by focusing on housing costs, but the bluest places in the country are usually those with the most expensive housing and voters really identify this as a unique or overwhelming issue, so it seems like wishcasting to me.

The reason housing costs matter in politics is that they distort political geography - they keep people out of high-cost, disproportionately blue cities and states.

I see essentially no evidence that they are affecting ACTUAL POLITICAL BELIEF OR VOTING BEHAVIOR, however.
