I think in a way when we use parasocial to mean bad we're pointing at this "acting like you believe you truly know them" thing, but parasocial is value neutral, really, to me; it applies to many beliefs & behaviors that lie on a scale from harmless to really horrible.

so it's like.. parasocial is or becomes 'bad' when you truly confuse having a parasocial relationship (*feeling* like you know them) with having an actual relationship (thinking you DO know them / feeling like they know you). Obv we never truly know anyone but celebs != friends

Yes! I agree, it does, it's kind of vague. Here to me it meant 'confusing knowing some things about this person with knowing what they want/think/are like' which I did when I said he WOULD want to say something. Bc like, I don't know. I'm guessing and projecting :))
