I will share with candidates what we would have liked to see more (or even less) of on specific tasks and / or questions. I make it clear that this is our take and may not be universal. It is often the case that candidates will be able to test examples at this point and I can respond to that.

I was very lucky to have a HT early on who gave detailed developmental feedback, even if you got the post. Didn't get 1st external DHT or first HT I applied for, benefitted greatly from the experience, and built a better understanding of what was required. I have always felt a need to pay this back.

For a while I've dreamed of running a #BrewEd flavoured 'Festival within a festival' at one of the big summer music fests. Performances, talks, creative workshops. It looks like it might actually happen this year? Might you come along?
Let us know your thoughts.

Lessons Learnt? - The Sutton Trust
A brief history of school policy reforms going back to the 1980s and the impact of these policies.
This all goes to the recent report I wrote for the @suttontrust.bsky.social on the last few decades of education reform.
We've improved academically - especially in maths - but are struggling pastorally.

Yes, that's definitely true. The thing that's important for them to hear - in the remaining time if we can get the word out. Is that there is no expectation from @beckyfrancis.bsky.social and the group for them to complete all sections. They can respond as fully as they like in just one or two

Our schools must play a vital healing role after the riots
We and our pupils have witnessed horrific scenes - but we can't allow fatalism to define our response
'When they return to school, we will need to remind our children of all the love they saw this summer and the light that came through the darkness', writes Sir Hamid Patel

But itβs easy to forget to be intentional in this way. A while ago, I put together Qs for new line managers that might help them to guide someone through their ideas - not hugely school specific. Itβs partly based on coaching training Iβd completed.
Theyβre very basic but have added them here:

Management doesn't get as much air time as leadership, but I think it is so important. Line management is an excellent example of this:
