Retrobrighting the white shells is going well, but think it's at a point of diminishing returns. you can see some faded yellow where it was completely orange before - wish I took before pics... either way, perhaps sanding to remove the bits of scuff will also remove the remaining yellowed layers

For now - Manic Knight Rayearth! The unit was surprisingly super clean and works! I plan to re-cap it. I'll want to look into a screen mod for this guy at some point.

after a good'ol wash 'n dry, this shell is looking pretty good with only minor scuffs that can be dealt with!

Working with wood can be just as rewarding as working with consoles. The new shelves are coming along great and the hardware is good to go! gonna install it 3rd row from the top of my acoustic panel which is slated for trimming to accommodate the shelf.

It's been a busy time! Got fully migrated to a new laptop, repurposed an old NAS while setting up a new one, fully restored 5 of 14 USB c mod models, and now trying to better optimize space.

I made these mounts for acoustic wall panels years ago and it's time to bring them back.

Good and Bad news

SSD data recovery possible, but no way financially viable. I'll be spending the weekend making a plan to get things straightened out.

Meanwhile, all other projects are on hold and the DS mods are delayed since all video material was lost.

Stuff happens, and gotta push forward.

I found some of my old projects from my old shop days from 20 some odd years ago! I miss those times looking back now.

Love how fluid and snappy the movement is!

I think using it to ensnare an enemy and use them as a meat shield (as a grab from behind) and throw them around if you're against groups would be neat.

Not sure if it'd fit with mechanics in demo vid you have up tho lol keep cooking!

Today comes 2 things; testing the PS2 USB-C before having to order boards that aren't manufactured (crashed out bad about it), and the donor SSD to recover data.

Thursday - catastrophic SSD failure. models, data, everything - poof. Come Tuesday / Wednesday xfer the NAND on the dead SSD to a donor of the same model. If it works, PARTY! If it fails, redo 2 years worth of work.

Meanwhile, got back to prior projects. Region free N64 cart slot mod lookin' good!

Been working behind the scenes as usual, and just ordered the boards for Rev3 of the USB-C mod for the PS2!

8.5v support for the earliest NTSC-J only models has been dropped since its super niche population among other things.

Now to get the new parts for this revision to test when it arrives.

The regular DSi gets the mod, BUT! needs a little addon. the little plastic piece securing the shoulder button needs a custom replacement to hold it in place after shell trimming

internal shell trimming for the DS Lite for the USB C mod worked out nicely

Wallets just don't understand lol I'd stick with metroidvanias. Get good platforming, puzzles, action all rolled up in a nice package.
