Finished reading Stendhal’s The Red and The Black over the weekend. Am I crazy for thinking it’s a better 19th century French novel than The Count of Monte Cristo?

Just picked up my first Turgenev this weekend (On the Eve). Will definitely check out Sportsman’s Sketches. Also saw your video on β€œTo the Success of our Hopeless Cause” + Steve recommendation so know that would be a good read as well!

Can’t stop reading Russian lit. Any favorites I should check out? Looking for lesser known, non-Tolstoy/Dostoevsky classics

Gotten into a lot of classical and jazz music this year. Bernstein was a great first read into the world, but have lots more I want to get into. Next is probably Maynard Solomon’s biography on Beethoven.

Just finished McPherson’s Battle Cry of Freedom. Great storytelling start to finish that has me eager for more Civil War reads!
