Cannot believe the German for Airport is Flugenhafen, honestly my favourite language.
Hey @saraita101.bsky.social , could you please follow for a DM?
I seem to have woken up in 1529…
Kishwer Falkner in The Times talking about the rights of "biological people". As compared to trans people, who are, of course, non-biological.
Your annual reminder that the most revealing difference between Irish and Scottish Gaelic is definitely in the words for December: Mí na Nollag (Month of Christmas) in Ireland, and An Dubhlachd (the Blackness) in Scotland. So once again may I wish you all a lovely Blackness.
An acquaintance posted on Instagram that, “If you’re Irish, you’ll know why you can’t vote for an Orange candidate.” These people are actually in for a nasty shock in a United Ireland when things change radically.
I don't know why anyone thinks this is a good day for the armed forces when the judge said this:
America: No Kings
Britain: No Dukes of York

The council are flying the national flag at half mast today to mark that it is 10 years today that ten of our neighbours in Carrickmines lost their life in a fire at their homes.

I can never cope how French books write the titles upside down on the spine
it’s so stupid we have to pretend everyone was ‘wrong’ about the law for 15 years and not just say the actual objective truth that the Supreme Court changed the law
Feel like this little sob story *could* have mentioned that Boyne's Polari nomination came five days after he wrote a piece referring to trans-inclusive women as the evil wives in the Handmaid's Tale, "ready to pin a handmaiden down as her husband rapes her".

What is the big achievement since the 2021 election? I would honestly struggle to think of anything.
I’m desperate for publicity for my book, for it to be read far and wide (as surely all these authors are), for it must be read to change minds - but at any cost?
I hope I’d have been as principled as these amazing writers including the lovely @sachacoward.bsky.social on here.
Go buy their books.
When Brianna Ghey was called “it” and literally killed Kathleen Stock said there was nothing transphobic about her murder.
Actually it happened as recently as 2012: www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-feature...
If he wins, I suspect he will use his speech to talk about how much he admires JK Rowling…
You don’t think being a racist has any impact on how she does her job?
The WhatsApp messages aren’t “alleged”, she’s admitted they are true. But you think it makes better if someone is only openly racist in their spare time?
It’s not “tragic” to think an NHS nurse shouldn’t send racist messages or say racist things.
You don’t think credible witnesses who said the nurse who sent racist messages also said racist things? Sounds very naive but then I suppose it must be rather tragic to see your heroine exposed.
These aren’t “off colour jokes”, they’re obviously racist remarks. It says a lot that ‘gender critical’ people are unable to call a spade a spade.
Certainly it is “alleged” unless or until she admits it or the witness comes up with corroboration, but given the court has also seen racist messages she has sent, the witness is very credible.
Yet another problem Keir Starmer just refuses to address www.ft.com/content/60b5...
3/. Unless you’re claiming these messages are fabricated, how can you not conclude she’s a racist? I mean she’s refers to herself as one…
2/. That’s not “vague” or “hearsay”, that’s a very clear first hand account from a witness.
