But both you and she attack people for exercising free speech, all the damn time. Free speech rights apply to everybody, or nobody.

It’s been made abundantly clear to me over the past 24 hours that I will never be radical enough for some of my far left friends. Unlike them, I will not condone, justify, or excuse in any way the assassination even of someone whom I vehemently disagreed with and personally disliked.

Check out his family foundation, which is doing excellent work. John walks his talk. @scalzifamily.foundation

Donor advised funds are an excellent philanthropic tool, especially at a community foundation who can give you excellent info on which nonprofits are doing what in your community. Financial advisors tell me that you need a minimum of $5 million in assets for a private foundation to make sense.

And thank you for that! I spent this morning reading the news and seesawing between rage and despair. Tonight, however, I’m halfway through When the Moon Hits Your Eye and absolutely loving it. Books have been my refuge ever since I was a little kid, and they still are now that I’m in my mid 60s.

I guess John McCain may finally be getting his wish (posthumously, of course).

Like so many on here, I’m really enjoying the sh*t show that is the Trump-Musk breakup. Will it make the really horrible things this administration is doing less horrible? Maybe (probably) not. But it’s oh so DELICIOUS.

Put aside the lies and the open defiance of the Supreme Court, as well as the cruelty, and ask yourself: who talks like this? This is the *official* account of the *White House* - is it being run by a six year old?

To the world:
We are fighting back. Our movement has been silenced by the media here—but we are not backing down. This is what our streets looked like across multiple cities. Tomorrow, there will be more of us! Raise a glass to freedom.

—With love,
Your American allies.

It's an ironic PS to today's amazing Jeffrey Goldberg story that the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic is more responsible with US national security information than any of the principals of the Trump national-security team www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

times for completely incoherent reasons—twice for posting quotes from Hannah Arendt's book on Totalitarianism, and four times for posting editorial cartoons published in various newspapers which FB considers offensive. They seem particularly upset at the review I posted of Carless People 2/

So now that America is imprisoning and/or deporting immigrants who overstayed visas and married Americans, is it maybe time for Melania to finally have that long promised press conference where she explains the exact nature of her arrival in the United States?

Last fun sci-fi that I read: Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi. Entertaining and fast paced, with bonus furry, adorable creatures. Also features a patented smart-mouthed (and smart) @scalzi.com protagonist. Also terrific: Starter Villain and The Kaiju Preservation Society.

The most recent terrific fantasy (really more magical realism) that I read: The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods. 1920s London and Paris, modern day Dublin, time jumps, romance, and a mysterious bookshop you can’t find but might - if you’re lucky - find you.

Anti-Semitic much? The Nazis used the same slur against German Jews: that they weren’t “good Germans.” Congratulations on sounding like an actual Nazi.

I’m sometimes tempted to move back to my home state of Texas. There, even moderate Dems like me are welcomed by other Dems. Among the far-left Democrats in Taos, New Mexico, where I live now, I’m an unwelcome centrist outlier. Corporate shill, DINO - you name it, I’ve been called it. 🤷🏼
