If there’s a secondary type for Gecqua’s evolution line, I think there’s some exciting options here. I would say “dark”, but we already have the water/dark amphibian, Greninja. Perhaps fighting, but we’ve just had Quaquaval?

They are thought to be descended from dragons, and are symbols of fertility and good luck.
Unfortunately, they are now threatened in some countries due to poaching and illegal trading.
I would feel fairly confident to say that this is the main basis for Gecqua.
The Tokay Gecko are a more likely basis, in my opinion, based on Gecqua’s name and look. They’re generally aggressive, but are known to form temporary groups to protect their egg clutches together.
What’s most interesting about them is their cultural significance in parts of South East Asia.
The Indian Bull Frog is widely known as an invasive species, in that it decimates other amphibian populations, by eating other species’ tadpoles. They have been observed killing fish and bird chicks.
However, their tadpoles have also been used as part of research into mosquito population control.
This could give lots of hints for what the rest of the evolution line might look like, or what secondary type it might have, if any.
Both of these animals can be found in parts of South East Asia (not just India, in the Bull Frog’s case!) This is likely where the new region is based on.
I like trying to figure out what different animalistic Pokémon are based on. Usually it’s a variety of influences, often from the part of the world that the current region is based on.
So far for Gecqua, I’ve found the Tokay Gecko and the Indian Bull Frog.
