Uganda declares end of Ebola outbreak
Uganda today declared the end of the Ebola disease outbreak, less than three months after the virusΒ was confirmed in the capital Kampala.
In much needed positive news on the global health front, Uganda has declared the end of the outbreak of #Ebola Sudan virus. Even without US support, the systems will struggle but will find a way to hold and survive.

HIV prevention pills should be free, but insurers are still charging
Insurance companies have to pay for PrEP under federal rules, but some skirt the requirement for free access to the treatment critical to preventing HIV.
It should be a no-brainer for the health-care system: Make the HIV prevention PrEP treatment free and save a lifetime of medical expenses.
But insurers are skirting coverage mandates, and patients are getting charged. Gift link to my story on the issue:

Reproducing my viral thread from Twitter on why we should stop using the term "sub-Saharan Africa"
Academics routinely use this term. For many years, I also used it without really thinking much about it or questioning its use. But itβs problematic and should be avoided. Here are the reasons:

I've always wondered why the term and this post is absolutely eye opening.

There are many layers here, but I want to comment on one aspect of these findings for now--the editorial board representation. Some will see this and immediately think: we need to get more POC on our boards! I understand that impulse, but encourage you to think a few steps down the game tree 1/n.
