THIS!
I miss 90s car so much >_<
If I had to choose an affordable car nowadays.. it would be the GR86. And that was it exactly 2 years ago 😅

Watched 🎬 Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In.

Pretty good if you like Kung-Fu movies from the 80s and/or Kowloon Walled City :3

I enjoyed it, ngl.

Is it just me or the way #Godot handles fullscreen/maximized windows is NASTY if the stretch mode is set to viewport with aspect keep?

I started mine with a menu screen, so I could have easy ways to access development and debug scenes, but the background, title and UI are just placeholders...
Now that I talk about it, I just realized I don't have a main menu but a debug menu 🥲

Just finished Space Marine 2, and now I just want to play Final Liberation from 1997 again... 🥲
I remember wishing for a proper W40k movie around that year just because of the cutscenes (which were impressive at the time)

Screenshot of the layout for a game screen mockup.
It shows the size of the screen divided in thirds, with placeholder characters, position for the dialog box, and other size guidelines.
The design shows three characters in old style pixel art like the game of the 90s.

Is it normal to consider this many sizes and measurements for a game like this… or am I overthinking it?

I wouldn’t do it any other way though.

Still, lots of changes coming before the final designs!!

Post a pic you took, no context, to bring some zen to the feed.

Oh there are too many of them. Sometimes I feel like listing them or something like I did on Twitter but... I ended creating a dedicated account for retro games 🤣 and I don't update it anyways so... XD

Haha for sure. And going back to those games is UX hell. But... I do some times, and I enjoy them a lot.

There's no week I don't desire to go back to simpler times of gaming.
The gold era of PC games (around 1995 for me)
That was beautiful. Every sprite had soul. Every technical advance was significative.

What a time to remember 🥲

Oops! It looks like I may not have fully considered the final in-game size… so I might have to redo it with the face about 10px smaller.

Ah, always something to fix — but hopefully it’s for the best.
I don’t want to settle for the first version I make. I want to aim for quality.

Thank you!
That means a lot because I'm no artist!

Will post progress when I choose the final colors and do the shades! ^^

Slowly progressing... (I also coded the cutscene system and adjusted fonts within this week 😅)

Since today's holiday in Japan, this still counts as #screenshotsaturday, right? 🧐

The filename kind of reveals the story a bit... 😉

Policeman and Firefighters on a narrow street of Tokyo, full of smoke. A firetruck stopped in a narrow street of Tokyo A street with the police controlling traffic beside a flipped car A flipped black car.

Seems like the city is busy today...
(Yes, two unrelated incidents within 300m)
What a walk around the neighborhood 😅

So... I've been waking around 8:30, working (for real money lol) from 9:40 to 20:30 or 21:30 depending on the day... then coming back home and working on my game from 22:30 or 23:00 until 1:30 or 2:30 aprox for a while now

I wonder how much time I can continue like this...

When I saw all the posts about the #Godot GUI layout, I was thinking that it couldn't be that hard. Specially coming with years of experience on HTML/CSS.

I'm starting to hate it lol.
Trying to customize a bit some of the behavior is a nightmare. It's easier to create custom components from scratch

Character design sheet for one of the game characters (WIP).
It shows a young Japanese girl in her school uniform from the early 2000s.

Another character design I’m really happy with! I love the early 2000s vibe on this one.

Can’t wait to see it in color and in actual in-game screens!

That's true. It makes hard to take any decision about this.
But... yeah, in the normal case... imagine your game review-bombed without people having tried it

Post image

How are people allowed to write reviews after playing 10 minutes of a game?
Lucky this game has good reviews (because it's indie, but pretty famous), but wouldn't be it super unfair for other products if they just get bad reviews after 10 minutes?

Installing 8+gb of Visual Studio just to compile aseprite 🤪

Same here, same.
But just disagree and commit. You get used to it (maybe).
Best thing I did was installing a linter and at least have code consistency
