My most woke opinion is that the agricultural revolution was the genesis of every evil - capitalism, patriarchy, slavery, xenophobia, gender essentialism, monotheism, war... all of it is a directly result of agriculture. We need to go back to hunter/gatherer societies.
They might wait until after the midterms, but I don't share your optimism. I don't think they plan to have free and fair federal elections again, so they don't care how much political influence the cis-gays have.
Maybe the court won't use this case to reverse OvH, but if not they will lay out exactly what sort of case is required to do so. I don't think there is any chance that OvH isn't reversed within the next three years.
