Its blue bill extends up as a head shield, whilst its face, neck and chest is white, graduating into yellow. A close-up of the lesser marsh grasshopper (according to Google Lens) that I found on my doorstep this morning. Its body is predominantly green, and its legs and antenna are light brown.

The same grasshopper, but from further away, showing more of the sandstorm doorstep.

I didn't expect to come across a one-legged grasshopper sitting on my doorstep this morning! The closest grassland is a fair distance away, so I wonder if it had been dropped by a bird? That would account for the injury, at least. I moved it onto the nearest sunny greenery 🦗 #insects #England #Kent

Borboleta-carteiro-vermelho (Heliconius erato phyllis) pousada em flores pequenas, numerosas e tubulares de Lantana camara de cor amarela. Esta borboleta é majoritariamente preta com manchas vermelhas, irregulares e simétricas na asas dianteiras e barras horizontais também simétricas na cor verde fantasma de ambos os lados das asas traseiras. Apresenta pintas no tórax, antenas pretas e olhos compostos. O fundo são folhas de lantana parcialmente focadas e no segundo plano vegetação desfocada.

A hairy and colourful caterpillar (approx. 3cm long) on the leaf of a primula I have growing in a planter. I think it fell from a large sapling I disturbed nearly. Google Lens says it's the caterpillar of the rusty tussock moth, also known as the vapourer (Orgyia antiqua) 🧐

Well, this was a new one for me! I'm pretty sure that it's the caterpillar of the Rusty Tussock Moth. I've read that it feeds on the leaves of trees, so it must have fallen from a sapling (I'm not sure of what) I have growing wild in my sadly neglected back yard #UKMoths #Moths #Kent #England
