Spare a thought for parents on the school run who were listening to BBC Radio 4 #TodayPrograme today, when Jonny Dymond asked Justin Webb if he’d be telling children about Santa next. #spoileralert
Look forward to reading.
Currently at Wilton Park conference on Biological Weapons (hosted in foothills of Jura rather than countryside of West Sussex). Fascinating to see the interplay & occasional tension between science, diplomacy & policy making. We should chat next time I’m in UK.
Some personal reflections on the 1000 day anniversary.

This is one I took jogging down the West River recently. Right place, right time. Puts me in mind of a 1960s poster on cities of the future (minus the flying cars…)
Brilliant! Thank you, Danae.
I still find starling murmurations one of the most captivating of Mother Nature’s offerings.
I’ve been here a day. What strikes me most is the binary nature of the debate. When I go to a reception, I don’t only talk to the people I like & agree with. When I join a buffet, I don’t only consume the one dish I enjoy most. The beauty of life is its diversity. Take the best of both/all worlds.
Feels a bit down. Finds something, anything played on the piano by @bbcstever.bsky.social . Immediately feels better!
The suggestive power of imagery. Slightly misleading to use a photo of the US Embassy for this story. Yes, it’s diplomatic estate (now made more famous by a certain Netflix series), but the US is not one of the countries against which the nine serious offences are counted.
Wow! That’s a stunning photo.
None that immediately spring to mind. Some have responded, space, but OST more about domain than capability. Use of capabilities is of course covered by UN Charter and IHL.
Multi-stakeholder initiatives like REAIM Summit and CCW GGE on LAWS are important contributions to the emerging tech debate.
NPT negotiations, Vienna 1997, submarine deals with Australia. I should hate it, yet I love it!
#Bkuesky curious, so keeping a foot in both camps for now. Recommendations of good foreign policy accounts to follow on here, very welcome - particularly those focussed on international security issues.
