The Three Johns - Atom Drum Bop

May not be many shout outs for this in #5debutalbums8084 which sadly would be wrong. A really good album of powerful tunes backing strong political lyrics. As it states on the back of the jacket, "Rock N' Roll versus Thaatchiism"

At the time, I got into this so I could get chatting to a girl that I fancied who liked it.
It's a good post punk album though & certainly worth a listen.
The album & I lasted, the lass & I didn't. She turned out to be "bat-shit crazy", had to sleep with one eye open 😅

Yeah, there are certainly some reggae albums where you can tell the budget has reached its limit by the time they get to designing the cover.

I think this is Toyan's debut album. Discogs & RYM have it listed as his 1st, so that'll do for me for now. I can't find anything stating it's not. I'm sure @houseofreggae.bsky.social can confirm or state otherwise for us 😄. Anyway damn fine album no matter what.

Everybody likes this, don't they? It's pretty much the perfect pop album and so damn catchy. It should get everybody wanting to move to it.

Author! Author! was Scottish band Scars' wonderful debut album released in 1981. Sadly though the lifespan of the band was surprisingly short and they split with just this one album to their name.

I was lucky enough to catch them early at The Boat Club in Nottingham. Coincidentally, it will be exactly 46 years ago tomorrow.

Iron Maiden's self titled debut

Always enjoyed the Paul Di'Anno Maiden more than what they evolved into after he was shown the door. Probably due it not being so full on metal, really like this & it could be considered for a place but some strong opposition to fight off.

On this date 40 years ago, The Men They Couldn't Hang were on at the People's College. It could've have been a good pick me up for those who had trudged back from the Baseball Ground after watching Notts lose 2-0.

That's Holloway though ain't it, got to waffle on about something. Coming from an era when having a player from Eire seemed exotic, I still find it funny that we have games postponed as we have 3 players on international duty. 😄

Jamaica '81 & Reggae Sunsplash was on. A tall, lanky guy is on stage prowling around like a praying mantis and making a sound of the like I'd never heard before My intro to Eek-A-Mouse! Next day went out & bought this 7"

There was one point today where he got bullied off the ball by a defender who was taller & looked stronger than him, but he didn't lie down and accept it. He fought & won the ball back straight away. 👌
