i hate to be the conspiracy speculation guy, really, prediction is a loser's game

but stealing from the tariff money pot to pay the troops, so that the military has incentive to keep you in power, and personal loyalty to your policies, rather than Congress and the people is... i mean its not great

if you are going to be using the armed forces to control and police your political opposition as you dismantle the institutions of the republic, i'd suggest keeping them paid while you do so

Chicago - Judge partially grants TRO, blocks deployment of NG to in Illinois. found no credible evidence of facts to support 12406 federalization

it's nice when a plan plays out.

i can't always guess what the plan / angle / shot is,

but if you look closely you can usually see some evidence that someone was making conscious deliberate choices with clear intention. there's an extra level of specificity

i don't remember the same language in the opinion from Judge Immergut, but that took a slightly different route, with different facts, so its small n samples and tea leaves reading tbh

but its interesting

and on appeal, credibility determinations about witnesses, the parties, the facts presented... the appeals court defers to those determinations. in theory.

so is there something intentional about making that super clear here? hell if i know. just think its interesting.

usually appeals courts are looking at issues of law.

the dumbed down theory is... the trial court gets to see the witnesses and the evidence, watch as they are cross-examined... the fact finders make credibility assessments, because they are best suited to, they have the most information

in the OR case today, at the 9th Cir., Judge Nelson seemed really eager to get into the facts of the case that the district judge based her ruling on, which is... there's a lot going on in these, but usually not something the appeals court does, its not really what they are meant or supposed to do
