We'll be holding a press conference at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 11, near 225 Peachtree Street, to demand the City keep its promise to build a raised crosswalk on Peachtree.

Peachtree Street is Atlanta’s most iconic corridor. It’s also one of the hardest – and deadliest – places to cross on foot.

Please join us via petition now, and — if possible — in person next week to hold the City accountable.

Most daily trips in Atlanta are 3–5 miles from home, a distance that’s doable on an e-bike.

We’re now working with ARC and the City on the details for this year’s program. Nothing is finalized yet, but we’ll share updates well before applications open.

Last year told us something big:
• 11,000+ people applied
• 93% of income-qualified recipients redeemed their rebates
• Recipients reported driving 40% less and riding more
• $1.2 million --> to 12 local Atlanta bike shops

This wasn’t a bike program. It was a transportation affordability program.

Atlanta’s e-bike rebate is coming back! 🚲

Atlanta City Council has approved a resolution, championed by Councilmember Matt Westmoreland, to renew the city’s wildly successful e-bike rebate program. $1 million will again go to the Atlanta Regional Commission and Propel ATL to run the program.

Accessibility supports, including ASL interpretation and CART captioning, will be provided.

This session is an opportunity for individuals with disabilities, advocates, service providers, and community organizations to share lived experiences and help inform the City’s updated ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan.

From measuring, drilling, and painting to conversations on the sidewalk, the day was all about claiming space for people and making everyday trips to transit, the Beltline, and local destinations safer and more comfortable.

This quick-build project is the result of two years of community-led work through our Walk ATL program, including a neighborhood walk audit and community-informed pedestrian safety action plan, supported by a $10K Walk ATL grant.

Over the weekend, residents, volunteers, and partners turned Merrill Ave. into a hands-on opportunity for safer streets—installing a walk lane to better protect people on this frequently used neighborhood street.

In the meantime, please contact your City Council member to voice your support.

If approved, the Atlanta Regional Commission will again handle the application process and Propel ATL will handle outreach and education, with timing to be determined.

The legislation was co-sponsored by all 13 City Council members present at the full council meeting and has been referred to the Community Development/Human Services Committee, which meets next Tuesday, January 27. We expect to learn more soon.

Now, thanks to your advocacy, the popular program may be back! Earlier this week, Atlanta City Council member Matt Westmoreland (Post 2, At-Large) introduced new legislation that would provide an additional $1 million to fund the program for a second round.

The prior round of the City of Atlanta e-bike rebate program met all of its goals and then some, with recipients riding more and driving less. Roughly 82 percent of recipients were income qualified, exceeding the goal of 75 percent. (Atlanta Regional Commission, Feb. 2025)

Throughout the season, which lasted from March through October, 17 women participated in our monthly classes, resulting in 10 graduates who received their own bikes from Global Spokes to take home and continue their newfound love of cycling.

For Atlanta’s Refugee Women's Network, cycling classes offered by Propel ATL delivered more than just a good time. Since most of the participants do not own cars, they were a lifeline to independence and self-sufficiency.
