Prominent Georgian journalist Mzia Amaglobeli has been sentenced to 2 years in prison. Another prisoner of conscience, Giorgi Akhobadze, has been freed from the courtroom.

Today at 14:00 Tbilisi time, the Batumi City Court will deliver a verdict in the case of Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of 'Batumelei.' Mzia is charged with assaulting a police officer and faces 4 to 7 years in prison.

Additionally, Kallas confirmed she would present a list for “targeted sanctions,” which includes two Georgian judges. “All instruments are on the table, and we will try to reach a consensus on this matter” - EU HR has said.

Ivanishvili’s regime has turned to Russian-style autocracy: imprisoning students, putting political opponents behind the bars using fabricated charges, threatening to abolish independent media and civil society with draconian laws, repressing the citizens on a scale not seen in Georgia for decades.

Today is the 205th consecutive day of nationwide protests in Georgia, although this resistance began long before.

For years, Georgians have peacefully taken to the streets, demanding independence, sovereignty, and democracy.

It was a turning point, when the Georgian people raised their voices against growing Russian influence in the country.

Today marks 6 years since Russian Communist Duma member Sergei Gavrilov was allowed to sit in the Speaker’s chair of the Georgian Parliament, under the rule of Georgian Dream (June 20, 2019).

The Ivanishvili regime has put a third Georgian opposition leader behind the bars for boycotting the so-called GD parliamentary commission. Previously, Zurab Japaridze was taken from the courtroom, and Nika Melia - from the street, both put in the pre-trial detention facility on the same grounds.
