Punching down to maintain their spot in the patriarchal hierarchy is not feminism at all. They’re full of shit.

Cartoon. title: “Behind Every Number” Eight frames. In each frame, except the last one, is a child holding up a number. Numbers 1-6 have smiling, laughing children. Number seven has a sad child with the number 7 forming part of a banned symbol over their face. The last frame says, “One in seven NZ kids live in hardship. Up 47,500 since ‘22”

Behind every number. Since 2022 the number of New Zealand children living in hardship has increased by 47,500. Seems like that’s by design.

"We owe conspiracy theorists a huge apology"

No we fucking don't. They were talking about a secret conspiracy of gay trans Jewish lizard people. The Epstein files uncovered a conspiracy of rich, straight, white, right-wing Christian men, which these motherfuckers never even considered.

Why the new LNG terminal could raise, not lower, your power bill Analysis: Energy Minister Simon Watts is confident importing gas will lower power prices, but questions remain about the scheme and its costs.

Marc Daalder on why the new LNG terminal is likely to shape up as a bad financial and climate decision.

Examines Watts and Luxons facile talking points and takes them apart.

Should be material for Hipkins but will he use it?

Come on Labour, this is such an easy target: "We put aside recovery money for landslide victims. Luxon stole it and gave it to his rich mates. Elect us and we'll bring it back"

Men, it's worth pondering that these academic men are the same ones that teach young women straight out of school. These are the men given academic authority over young women's careers.

It's really challenging for young women to negotiate the minefield of creepiness these men create for them.

We had a $6B climate resilience fund and Nationals squandered it all on tax cuts for their mates so now we get boxes of KFC after weather events instead of properly funded supports and help.

Yay for us I guess??

We're down a billion in revenue, but, don't worry, agencies are spending $2.3bn less than expected on people and services, so... we're winning $1.1bn!
Govt will work out one day where the money to pay taxes comes from. Govt spends money into the economy, and *then* taxes it back out again ffs.

On the 7th of November the country will go to the polls. Let’s come together to get rid of this anti-worker Government and elect a new progressive government that is committed to delivering bold change for working people.

This week, Helen Clark has been de facto leader of both the Labour Party, and the country IMO.

How much of a waste of space is Luxon, yeesh. 🤦‍♀️

If you're a staffer at 60 Minutes who worked on that CECOT segment that got yanked by Bari Weiss at the last minute, figure out a way to leak it. Not saying it's an easy decision or there won't be consequences, but ask yourself why you got into journalism in the first place.

A key reason that cutting spending into a downturn is a shit strategy is that it contributes to a tanking tax take - creating a doom loop of spending cuts and revised targets as Govt tries to hit it's operating balance target. [7/n]

What the 2024 and 2025 data shows is that Govts pulled around $10bn of investment in an obvious recessionary period. Even the ghouls would predict that this would cause a prolonged downturn - particularly given how high and long RBNZ held interest rates up. [6/n]

Writing actual letters, tbh. My close friends that I now text with constantly would receive (and send in return) multiple little notes in one envelope that contained all sorts of gossip and info and thoughts and “oh also” stuff that accumulated over a few days. Most weeks I’d get a packet of notes.
