In short: • Currently, UK and Australian users are forced to verify their age when accessing age-restricted channels and servers • Also currently, as an experiment, 3% of users in other countries are forced to verify their age when accessing age-restricted channels or servers as well. In a typical Discord fashion, this might be just a test that will get rolled back eventually.

• In the future, UK and Australian users will be forced to verify age when: • Trying to view sensitive content (i.e. images/videos Discord marked as sensitive) • Changing DM privacy settings • Changing Message Requests settings • UK users might also be forced to verify age when trying to access any server with over 1k members (with the exception of partnered servers), although the current data indicates that this won't be the case by default, but rather only if your verified age group is determined to be "teen" • Sending messages in channels you can access will NOT be age-restricted in any way, shape, or form. There is no Roblox-like system in place. Note that the restrictions and countries affected may change at any time, as Discord's new system is very flexible with their configuration. Discord users internationally are reportedly seeing prompts to age verify to access NSFW channels. Discord states these may be seen by users outside the UK & Australia “as part of ongoing experiments.”
