@newsagents.bsky.social re Maxwell, if I had been involved I would be very nervous. I expect her to grass on everyone *except* Trump. So she can walk, Trump is clear, and others take the punishmen.

Views on views Web pages hold us back. What about views?

A while ago, I posted about β€œviews”, a new definition we've been working on.

Good news, we resolved on using a specific definition (draft). Updated my post to explain: hidde.blog/views/#headi...

thanks to all who chimed in, and specifically the efforts of co-chair @alastairc.uk to make this happen

A moany post about the local playground, with only the most relevant comments showing, which is none.

Amused that for almost all the person posts on Facebook (by local people or people I know) all the comments are filtered out by default as not-relevant.

We had a pretty long period of 'free' stuff as there was a land-grab for users, with few safeguards. Now they have to turn a profit and put in safeguards, so the products become less attractive.

An online find-a-nanny service doesn't let you send a phone number. Unless you do "My phone is zero, seven..."

I'm got a question about which type of CAPTCHA is best for accessibility. I found my self saying: It's like asking whether sea water is more dry than tap water, they are both intrinsically wet!

Wow, I guess blank page leaves it all to the "imagination". Do you get the same kind of thing each time, or are the topics very different? If they are similar, presumably that says something about the stats of the training data?

Apple's recipe thing, which is part of the News app seems great. Interesting recipes, clear structure and no ads popping up on you.
Main problem: How the *bleep* do you find it? It is in the "today" feed if you scroll down a lot, but it is something you need to get straight to, with a button.

My vision isn't too bad, but I'm old enough that small print on paper is an issue. Also, it could be an adaptable tool for hybrid meetings with whiteboard or paper-based things!

I have a small second monitor underneath my main large monitor. If there is too much white on the screen, the fan comes on. Dark-mode FTW!

I think it's worth acknowledging when you get a good response from an MP. I'd written to mine (@sadikal-hassanmp.bsky.social) on a particular law, and I could tell he had actually read it.
In stark contrast, a similar email on the same law to my previous MP received a canned response.

I generally try to think of a visual representation. Doesn’t have to be detailed, just something to have there whilst taking. Could be a diagram or a picture.
E.g. I found an architectural diagram of a wheelchair ramp for talking about design/ dev education /not/ including accessibility.

In read that the Equalities act and/or the judgement used chromosomes as the basis. My point was that forcing 100% of people into 2 categories on that basis won’t work.

More Women Than Expected Are Genetically Men - Novo Nordisk Fonden BY MORTEN BUSCH Sex chromosomes usually determine whether you are female or male. Women are XX. Men are XY. However, genetically, a few women are actually men. They grow up as women with a woman’s bod...

Binary implies one or the other, but it doesn't seem that simple. E.g. people with XY chromosomes can grow up female and even (very rarely) give birth novonordiskfonden.dk/en/news/more...
Layer on the complexity of hormones and psychology, it seems logical that some people won't fit the binary view.

How long has Chrome on Android had a zoom feature? I've been complaining that it doesn't utilise the system text-size or zoom settings, but once you increase system text-size a zoom setting is added to the browser.

I seem to be getting a new type of spam email, which is a random selfie from some dude in the US. Not one person, multiple people at random emails. Quite odd, and not an improvement on the many blank emails I get.

I forget where I heard it, but there's a theory that this is all so that Trump can de-value the dollar. It would take a lot of work considering how much dollar use there is outside of the US, but he might just do it.

Realising it's a joke, but I assume it would be "scrutable" (due to explicable / inexplicable), and that sounds just as odd.
