One regulatory change I'd like to see around AI is the requirement that it has to tell you it's AI if you directly ask it.

When business groups judge a government has firmly decided to do something they don't like, they often cut their losses and stop criticising it because their cost-benefit analysis says that speaking out won't stop it but could piss off the government, get them frozen out, or worse.

When governments are doing dumb shit, the HOW still matters a huge amount to business because the implementation of a bad idea can either mitigate or exacerbate the damage to your interests.

Businesses therefore mitigate their criticism of the "what" to try and get traction on the "how".

The boring but horrifying explanation for this is that businesses do not want to risk angering a vengeful Trump administration that has proven it won't hesitate or be constrained by norms and laws in weaponising against critics every lever of power it can reach.
