It's getting torched by the pundits, the opposition parties are sabotaging it, and public reaction has been meh at best.

I can get behind extending the benefit to low income seniors, i.e. those whose income is <$75 or so. But well-off seniors don't need a cheque any more than well-off younger adults do.
