sometimes doing the right thing isolates you, i’ve found this too as a lot of people will ‘keep the peace’ in order to have people around them and just turn a blind eye. it’s better to have less friends than be friends with bad people though i think

Welsh (yay!) artist Calvert Richard Jones’ calotype of a sleeping cat, 1850-55. Maybe not the earliest cat photo but it’s lovely. Jones was a pioneer in photography in Wales, although he didn’t take it up as a career. He moved in the same circles as Fox-Talbot and knew Sir David Brewster (iykyk).
