27.07.2025 02:03 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Finally made the trip to Kelleys Island, Ohio to see the HUGE glacial grooves left by the mile thick ice that once covered this region of North America. Closer examination of the grooves, however, suggest water flowing under the ice may have also played a role.

16.06.2025 02:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Lake Bonneville itself was fresh water, only becoming salty as it evaporated and became landlocked. The Great Salt Lake is the modern remnant of Bonneville.

13.06.2025 23:24 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The Loggerhead Shrike, also known as the "butcher bird" because of its habit of skewering its kill on barbed wire or small twigs, as seen on Antelope Island, Utah. Right after this photo, it flew off.

The Western Meadowlark on Antelope Island, Utah. A little shy at first, he finally starting singing after a few minutes.

Was just at that same spot back in March for a project I'm working on. Concerning the impact/salt dome debate; years ago, my wife found shatter cones and "odd" breccia in the area of upheaval dome, pointing towards an impact formation.

I see you're using the Z a lot more these days. How is it comparing photo quality/use wise to the dslr; better, about the same, etc.?
1. Dante's Peak, even though everything is sped up.
2. The Core; enough said.
3. The Day After Tomorrow, although Dante's Peak is probably 1a in that department.
Great question, Wendy! ๐
The Bonneville Salt Flats just east of Wendover, NV. The remnants of Lake Bonneville, you can definitely see why it gets its name "flats"!! ๐
