After decades in which the western imperialist neoliberal order was not even questioned in the West, less than three weeks into 2026, Canada, one of the biggest US vassals and collaborators on all matters of imperialism and genocide, is saying this.

These words are welcome because they are showing that anti-imperialists were right all along. That every imperialist intervention is based on lies. We must now make the following point clear: what is unacceptable for Canada is unacceptable for everyone.
Since so many people are fangirling over Carney's supposed "historic" speech in Davos, I want to offer an alternative reading.
This is not left cynicism, but a sober reading of imperial positioning in this moment.
1) Carney squarely positioned Canada as a middle power.
What I loved about Mark Carneys speech, it was a complete admission of the state of Canada and its bourgeois only went along with America and its imperialist actions BECAUSE they could profit off of others peoples suffering, and are only stopping because it is now turned towards then and “allies”.

And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.
