Our work demonstrates that NGC 663 is one of the most massive young clusters in the Galaxy. Moreover, we show that the Be/X-ray binary RX J0146.9+6121 is associated to the cluster, providing - for the first time - strong constraints on the formation of such a system.

I risultati saranno pubblicati su Astronomy & Astrophysics.
25.11.2024 21:27 — 👍 1 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0The James Webb Space Telescope's NIRCam captures a stunning view of Westerlund 1. Thousands of stars shine brightly, their light diffracted into colorful cross patterns due to the telescope's optics. Interstellar dust and gas glow in shades of red and orange, forming intricate nebulae.
Open star cluster Westerlund 1. A home to a variety of young, massive stars.
