This is a widely accepted norm journalists are taught to convince themselves they believe in, but it's not at all obvious why a publication should have to publish an op-ed merely because it represents the president's point of view. That's a media market and branding decision major papers have made.

If a bad policy is in the news, it's the newspaper's job to point out that the policy is bad! The goal of the newspaper is truth, not regime propaganda.

The thing is that even if you took at face value that he didn't realize what he had on his skin (super obviously a lie!) it showed that he had terrible discernment and judgement, which are the things that you want in an elected official. It was disqualifying even beyond the obvious Nazism.

I remember realizing Americans sided with guns post Columbine and that bent my mind. Access to guns got even worse and the media turned shooters into celebrities and now my kid does active shooter drills in elementary schools. Imagine kids saying "active shooter drill" out loud like it's nothing
