I think the #BirdsSeenIn2025 challenge is missing Little Egret for Italy? Here's one from Villa Ada park, Rome, on 21 September 2025. It was hunting dragonflies, as was I in a rather different way. I also saw Rose-ringed parakeet, but didn't get a photo of that.

Unexpected twitch this afternoon, when a Leach's storm-petrel was spotted on a way inland lake near home! This species has been reported in multiple places far from the ocean after the storm yesterday.

Had 15 minutes of observation before the bird vanished, quite lucky there!

I love finding whiteheads / pōpokotea (Mohoua albicilla) in the bush - I never knew they existed until I took up birding, and was so excited to see them on the Korokoro Dam loop track in Lower Hutt. This particular chap in on the loop track at Mt Bruce a few weeks ago.
