Robin, standing on the fence. Goldfinch high in the canopy of an Alder tree in the company of Siskin and Redpoll.

Watched it for five minutes or more before getting these pictures - it kept disappearing round the back of the tree.
Thank you.

Watched this Treecreeper searching the bark of an Oak for food. Its feeding method is to spiral up the tree trunk, before flying down to the bottom of another nearby tree. They have the ability to walk on the underside of branches as this one is demonstrating in the last 2 pics.

Sulphur Tufts pushing up through the leaf litter, a few Snowberries still cling on to the bush in the garden and a gull skimming the waves at Sheringham.

Two small flocks of birds seen today whilst out walking and both were feeding on Alder cones. Siskin - a winter visitor, although occasionally at other times. Goldfinch - present year round and a regular garden visitor.

As my laptop has apparently given up the ghost (hoping to get it repaired in the near future) here is a Wild Turkey seen at Kartchner Caverns in May this year.

Long-tailed Tit a regular visitor to the garden. Spotted this Pied Wagtail sitting on a barbed wire fence, in the background the sheep can be seen relaxing in the sunshine. Surprised there are so many leaves left on these trees at the edge of a local field given the recent winds.

Someone see fishing. Assume they are after pike given the bait they were using.

The lake at Felbrigg NT a couple of days ago, lots of swans and ducks present including several Tufted Duck. Snipe have returned to the water meadow after being absent for much of the summer and evidence of the early morning frost can still be seen on this toadstool.

Quick visit to the coast this morning coinciding with high tide. Raining out at sea with a rainbow on the horizon. The dark clouds did produce a heavy downpour but it did clear and sunshine followed.

Chilly start to the day and the brambles were covered in frost. A Grey Heron moving very slowly through the reedbed and a small flock of Siskin were busily feeding on Alder cones.

Close encounter with a Coyote in Death Valley. It did seem very laid back and apart from a glance as it passed just sauntered away into the distance and disappeared. May 25

Robin suffering from leucism, a genetic condition causing a partial loss of pigment resulting in white or pale patches on its feathers but with normally coloured eyes. Differs from albinism, which is a complete lack of melanin and causes red or pink eyes.

Male Muntjac deer pausing from munching on brambles. A small deer but for their size they are very noisy especially when they start barking at 2:00 in the morning.

Cold, damp and miserable weather so here are a few birds seen in sunnier times, Pied Wagtail running along the ridge tiles of the house, a Jackdaw taking over the perch previously occupied by a Kestrel and a few of the several hundred Pink-footed Geese flying over the house.

Pictures from a few days ago - Scarlet Waxcap found in meadow at Felbrigg NT and a Blue Tit in the reed bed in the water meadow. This Harebell survived the battering winds of last week and looks very healthy and the Kestrel back in its usual perch in the garden.

You know winter is not far away when the Golden Plover start to appear on the local fields. About 150 seen this morning, never seeming to settle and flying up frequently and as they turn in the sunlight their underbellies flash like silver - amazing to watch.

Mute Swans seen at Felbrigg NT today. Adult male and a juvenile with their heads wet from dragging up weed from the lake. Adult male swimming towards the lakeside and then upending to gather food.

Lots of Cotoneaster berries in the garden, sure the Blackbirds will enjoy them. Great Spotted Woodpecker visiting the bird feeder. Mallard with something to shout about and lots of fungi growing on on the decaying tree stump.

Walk along local lane first thing, brisk wind and a noticeable chill. There was plenty to see - strings of Black Bryony, more obvious now the leaves have gone. Lots of Sloes on the Blackthorn and Catkins on the Hazel bushes. Highlight were the several hundred Pink-footed Geese.

A few pictures from earlier this week as the last 24 hours has been near constant rain. Collared Doves still visiting the garden regularly and a surprise visitor was this Redwing, did not stop long sadly. Carrion Crow at Felbrigg NT and a Primrose cultivar in flower.

Found a Dandelion seed head covered in dew on the roadside verge a few days ago - it looks like it has a frosting of ice crystals. Came across a few more fungi whilst out walking, named but stand to be corrected.

Quick visit to Sheringham this morning, lots of sunshine, like a spring day.
Herring Gull just testing the water and clear view out to sea but very few birds passing through. The breakwater was not having to work too hard today.
