My statement regarding my support for a Business Improvement District (BID) in Macclesfield Town Centre.👇
I welcome the Government's announcement that Macclesfield Town Centre will benefit from the Safer Streets Summer Crackdown. The town will see increased police patrols and local action to tackle ASB. Working with the Council and other agencies, more prevention and enforcement action will be taken.
I met with Health Minister Karin Smyth to discuss Batten Disease and Brineura. I'm pleased NICE will continue supporting current patients. This is a big step forward, and I’ll keep working to ensure all who need Brineura can access it now and in the future.
🏆Had a blast judging the Wildboarclough Fete Dog Show! Hilarious categories like “Dog Most Like Its Owner” made it tough to choose. Great weather, fab turnout—huge thanks to the organisers! We all had a woofing good time! 🐕🦺🥇🥈🥉
❗️Please see a statement regarding the ongoing closure of the B5470 and temporary traffic lights at Mill House Bridge. 👇
The Labour government and Prime Minister Keir Starmer has secured a new trade deal with the EU. This is great news for all of us, boosting trade and business, creating jobs, keeping us safe and helping to grow the economy so we all feel the benefit. More about the deal below.👇

I visited the recent canal breach site near Bosley to see the vital work by the Canal & River Trust team. Their swift action and dedication to protecting our historic canals is inspiring. I thanked them on behalf of our communities here in Macclesfield and the villages.
🏫It was a real pleasure to visit Vernon Primary School in Poynton recently. I had the chance to speak at their assembly and answer some fantastic questions from the children about democracy, British values and fairness. I was so impressed with the enthusiasm and thanks to the great teachers too. 😀
Very welcome news on the economy this morning. When the Chancellor joins the G7 Finance Ministers next week, she’ll be representing the fastest-growing economy, with a 0.7% rise. More growth means more investment in public services. 📈
VE Day commemorations were fantastic across Macc and the country last week. I was honoured to join students from Rainow Primary School and veteran Harry Carlisle at Rainow Church. Harry has done remarkable work researching the names missing from previous conflicts on the Macclesfield Cenotaph.
👨⚕️🧑⚕️Great news for Macclesfield! Broken Cross & Cumberland House Surgeries are set for major upgrades—part of Labour’s investment in 1,000 GP sites. With 1,500 new doctors hired, we’re creating more space, more appointments, and better care. Real change for our NHS! 💪❤️
👨💼My recent street surgery in Poynton was well received by local residents and I was pleased to take up lots of issues on their behalf. Thank you to all those we spoke to for the warm welcome. It was a hot day so we were pleased to stop off at the Farmers Arms, Poynton for light refreshment.😎
🎸I am pleased to be supporting Hospice Aid, a concert in Macclesfield to mark the 40th anniversary of Live Aid 1985, to raise funds our local East Cheshire Hospice.🎤

BREAKING: NHS waiting lists fall 6 months in a row with this Labour government. ⬇️
More progress on fixing our precious NHS. Much more to do.
I was pleased to join my constituent, Figen Murray and her family at Number 10 with the Prime Minister yesterday as Martyn's Law reached Royal Assent. Figen is an inspiration to many of us and has helped to remember her son by campaigning to change the law to make us all safer from terrorism.
🐑Taking Action on Dog Attacks🐑
I have written to the Policing Minister Diana Johnson MP to ask for more powers for our police to tackle dog attacks harming livestock and farmers across Macclesfield and Cheshire. Read my letter below.👇 #LivestockSafety #Macclesfield

🌳Delighted to plant a Shropshire Prune damson recently at Macclesfield Leisure Centre's new mini-orchard! Big thanks to Birgit Grimshaw, Diana Moss, Macc Wild Network Trust, and volunteers nurturing local wildlife and green spaces. Excited to watch it flourish!🍏
I met Middle East Minister Hamish Falconer, urgently raising concerns about Gaza's ceasefire breakdown. Innocent civilians, families, and children are suffering. A sustainable ceasefire and protecting human life must be prioritised; international action is vital.
I am determined to see potholes filled, not pointed at.
The government is investing £1.6bn to fix our broken roads, and asking councils to prove they are using is effectively. I am pleased Cheshire East Council will receive an additional £5.5m for pothole repairs and look forward to improvements.
🤝This week I met with the High Commissioner of Canada to the UK alongside a group of cross-party MPs. We had important discussions on trade, the strong UK-Canada partnership, and concerns over rising protectionism across the world. Canada remains a close friend and ally of Britain.
👨💼This morning my office team and I have held a street surgery in central Macclesfield to pick up any issues residents may have. Thank you to all those we spoke to for the warm welcome and even local pets seemed pleased to see us. 🐈⬛
👮♀️👮I very recently had the pleasure of joining a walkabout in Poynton with the local policing team to discuss concerns raised by residents regarding anti-social behaviour. The people we spoke to had no major issues, but it was good to get a feel of local priorities in the community.
