The U.S. Divorce Rate is Lower than it Was in 1970

1970 = 14.9 divorces per 1000 married women
2024 = 14.2 divorces per 1000 married women

If anyone tells you that the divorce rates are spiraling up out of control, don't believe it.

The graph shows a sharp incline in the divorce rate between 1970 and the early 1980s, then a slow but bumpy reduction in the divorce rate from that point on (to 2024).
