anyway I think this translation is out in like a week and I'm v excited to send a couple of my author copies to (possibly-unwilling) italian family members!!!!!
translating into romance languages is interesting for the gender neutral - especially when you don't want to shut out readers who might be less familiar or ID in different ways - but I'm really happy with the author's note

I've developed a rule for reading and writing #romance and #romantasy: the "hot people make bad romance" rule. If your romance wouldn't happen if the characters weren't physically attractive, I'm bored. The *dynamic* needs to be sexy, not the bodies.

⟡ TRANS HISTORY - WILDLY GOOD, incredibly accessible but also so well cited and detailed. Unafraid to tackle the intertwined history of colonialism, race and eugenics in a way that feels so vital & illuminating. Teen-friendly but also great for anyone who doesn’t love a dense textbook. READ THIS!!!
⟡ ANGELICA & THE BEAR PRINCE - The trans storyline isn't a big focus but I just found this sweet, fairytale-y story an extremely comforting, enjoyable read which is What I Needed
⟡ HAMMAJANG LUCK - Nonbinary butch in space Hawaii bringing down a tech billionaire, a gorgeously bitchy ex-best-friend they have mad chemistry with + ragtag loveable lesbians doing a heist. What more could you want.
