Can I ask you a favor? If you plan to buy this book eventually at some future date, can you try to grab it before the end of the month?

It helps a lot because of Publishing Math

A two panel comic of Loki from A Bad God's Guide to Being Good. In the first panel he's looking breezy and innocent and holding up a book. He's saying, "I think it's great that children read prose novels." In the second panel, he's looking more mischievous and saying, "It's a perfectly GATEWAY to comics."

Let's kill "comics are a gateway to reading" dead please?

Photo of a 'note from the author' in the italian version of 'i shall never fall in love' Screenshot of a document that reads: In the original English, other characters call George ‘she’ because it’s set in the 1800s - but the narration uses language I think of as closer to the truth, referring to George as ‘they’.
Singular ‘they’ is now used in English for people who don’t fit into male or female categories. It’s also been used for many hundreds of years for someone whose gender you’re not sure of.
In English, other people use ‘they’ to talk about me, the author - but in languages with only two common options for gender, I use the masculine. George’s gender is partly based on my own experience, so we chose for George to also be called by masculine words in the narration of this book.
You don’t have to have a similar gender as me or use masculine language about yourself to relate to George - the character is up to interpretation by the reader, and if you see something of yourself in George, then the character is for you.

translating into romance languages is interesting for the gender neutral - especially when you don't want to shut out readers who might be less familiar or ID in different ways - but I'm really happy with the author's note

Photo of the interiors for the Italian version of I shall never fall in love, where George is struggling to have an emotion Italian I shall never fall in love page, where George is panicking after being discovered in men’s clothes

Something so delightful to me about seeing my repressed extremely-British characters translated into Italian #books

Literally the main thing I learnt from illustration degree is nobody can see their own art style and you hone it down by practising enough

I've developed a rule for reading and writing #romance and #romantasy: the "hot people make bad romance" rule. If your romance wouldn't happen if the characters weren't physically attractive, I'm bored. The *dynamic* needs to be sexy, not the bodies.

⟡ TRANS HISTORY - WILDLY GOOD, incredibly accessible but also so well cited and detailed. Unafraid to tackle the intertwined history of colonialism, race and eugenics in a way that feels so vital & illuminating. Teen-friendly but also great for anyone who doesn’t love a dense textbook. READ THIS!!!

⟡ ANGELICA & THE BEAR PRINCE - The trans storyline isn't a big focus but I just found this sweet, fairytale-y story an extremely comforting, enjoyable read which is What I Needed

Also to note, since I write fantasy & historical nobody uses modern labels in-text, but the pic above gives a general vibe. (I'm not always very specific, but if you’re doing the TRR bingo I'd say these at least count for middle, top-left, and middle-right respectively.)
