We like to say it seems he’s working AGAINST their success sometimes. Brendon Little leaps to mind. His use in the postseason was indefensible.

Eventually the fiddling was too much to overcome in a Game 7. Bunting for no reason. Not letting Straw run. Batting Clement 8th. It’s a long list.

And hey: thank you for asking. I’m a “Day-Oner” with this team and they’ve had worse managers for sure, but he makes head-scratching decisions and this year it didn’t matter as much because once they played as a team it was hard to mess it up. Plus of course: the Summer of George.

They caught lightning in a bottle. They all bought in to Popkins’ approach to hitting. Not right away, it took about six weeks. But this was exactly the kind of roster that knew they weren’t going to pummel anyone. Once that took hold, it was magic.

He’s a good guy, but not a good manager.

I can’t vouch for the Cleveland manager. But I’m pretty confident in my belief that very little if anything about the Jays’ big season had anything to do with Schneider. Not a fan of his.

Same manager led them to last place, too.
