I'm worried that Russia may have a simple workaround. Lukoil could, on paper, sell the oil to an oil company based in a country who does not recognize US sanctions on Russia, for example an oil company in China, India or Turkey. For example, TPAO in Turkey.

Largo Winch, “the billionaire in blue jeans”, is involved in exciting adventures all over the world involving the clash of business empires. Especially relevant for this book is the album Mer Noire, French for Black Sea.

Jean Van Hamme is a Belgian comic author famous especially in France and Belgium for his comic book series Thorgal, XIII and Largo Winch, as well as other comic albums. I especially like, and can recommend, the Largo Winch series, masterfully drawn by French artist Philippe Francq.

All of my books start with a Dedication or Dedications page, where I talk about one or two people who I've found inspiring. For "Noire" I've dedicated my book to Anne Applebaum and Jean Van Hamme.

Even more important than the economic consequences are the global security consequences. Putin and Xi Jinping and all autocratic countries love it when democratic countries and the cooperation among democratic countries are weakened.

Putin isn't looking good in that that picture. I was curious about the source of the picture, but United24 Media doesn't provide attribution, which I think is poor.

I'd like to be optimistic, but my understanding is that the Catholic Church supported Hitler, Franco and Mussolini.

Interestingly, The Washington Post's own AI summary of the readers' comments say it's not Sadiq Khan who's the villain, it's the right-wingers who inflicted Brexit on London and the UK.

I certainly agree that Brexit was the most idiotic self-inflicted disaster possible.
