I meant specifically the kind that just tells you "oh yeah, and ___ died later" or whatever. If it's not a part of the actual story, don't write it!

Most open endings are not deep and mysterious, they're just lazy. However, adding a "where are they now" epilogue is usually even worse.

I just came back from a trip Canada and while I envy a lot of things they have (so many lakes! Drivers that don't try to kill you on the road! Actual peace!) the food is not one of these things

How about: you can't tell people what to cook, period? This is not a criticism of Dalassa's thread, but most of these discussions implicitly accept the premise that you need to prove your "authentic" background in order to make certain foods, which makes zero sense once you start thinking about it

Polish people aren't making it to be exotic either. They're making it because it's delicious. The idea that any one culture owns a type of food is stupid, and ignores some very basic facts about the world.
