fascinating - I live in France and had never heard of it. The verb Limoger refers to the town of Limoges which got it's link after a wartime captain who did more harm than good was sent far from the front line, i.e. Limoges. Again, fallen out of usage I think.

that's a tough one

it might be impossible for me to judge it versus me in the 1980s - I've seen too much since then! It felt a bit Kafka'esque too.

I remember it well - the imagery was very powerful - I'll have to watch it again to see if I think the 80s effects seem outdated or if that's not relevant to its dynamic.
