There’s a phenomenon when a person becomes passionate about nature as an adult and realizes there is more to learn than they’ll ever know, about birds, plants, rocks, etc etc, called the “wall of grief”, which is why I stick to fungi, so I can concentrate on how I’ll never know all the mushrooms

Bunch of healthy-looking funnel lichen growing on the stonewall. The leaf structures (part of same lichen) can be seen clearly at the foot of the funnels.

A gorgeous green parrot mushroom begins to succumb to a white mold that grows on it

At one of my favorite locations to hunt for parrot mushrooms, we sometimes come across these ones that have a white mold-like substance growing on them. Some totally succumb to the stuff and melt away... I thought it might just be mycelium, but I'm fairly sure it's a mold... 🌱🟢🍄📷📸🎞
