Whenever I was fortunate enough to spend time w/ Cara Da Silva, we laughed and talked food history. She was warm and generous. I read “In Memory’s Kitchen” on the bus to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in 2016. It’s one of the most important books in my library. z”l

fyi @gefilteria's gefilte fish is still available in select stores in NY & Boston if you'd rather kick it old school with a gourmet twist.

It may be hard to get fresh fish for homemade gefilte fish this year. Well, the 1960s has you covered: canned tuna gefilte fish. Last year, @NPRFood interviewed me for this story & we had a laugh. Now it may be the Passover dish for the moment.
