Probably from an early Viking raid, Jonah and the 'whale' feature on this Insular crozier found on the Swedish island of Helgö in Lake Mälaren, that region's central trade hub and productive site before the rise of Birka on neighbouring Björkö.

#Viking-Age tafl board game pieces from Birka grave Bj 523. Made from glass, the 'king' piece is the most prominent, and features prominent black eyes on its head.

Faceted carnelian bead found on Papa Stour.
Compare the faceted carnelian beads on this find from Birka Grave Bj 632 to the one I found on Papa Stour, Shetland, illustrating the gargantuan scope of the trade networks that brought them from as far as India and Central Asia to the Baltic and Britain!
